Starting rate is $70,000 per year.

Administrative Functions |
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities in order to maintain and increase our census and to provide the community with information relative to our facility, its programs, services, and practices. |
Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning the residents, employees, and/or the facility in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations. |
Assist department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures and establish a rapport in and between departments so that each staff member can realize the importance of his/her role in our marketing and public relations programs. |
Review the facility’s marketing and public relations policies and procedures at least annually and make changes as necessary |
Assist in the development, implementation, and tracking of customer satisfaction surveys. |
Interpret the facility’s policies and procedures governing the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary. |
Ensure that public information (policy manuals, brochures, information packets, etc.,) describing the services provided in the facility is accurate and fully descriptive. |
Ensure that all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information. |
In conjunction/coordination with the Administrator, develop and implement long range plans for the facility in its effort to establish and maintain our marketing and public relations programs. |
Support and promote the philosophy, goals and objectives of the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities. |
Assist in standardizing the methods in which marketing and public relations programs and activities will be developed and implemented. |
Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the marketing and public relations department. |
Represent the facility at and participate in top-level meetings. |
Serve as liaison to the Administrator, medical staff, and other professional and supervisory staff. |
Maintain schedules for all marketing and public relations programs. |
Organize and implement continuing internal communications through the use of bulletin boards, house organs, committee meetings, newsletters, brochures, public announces, etc. |
Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning our marketing and public relations programs and activities. |
Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc., as necessary. |
Develop, schedule and guide tours/personnel through the facility. |
Keep a supply of brochures, and other printed material readily available for persons requesting such data. |
Assist in the developing/maintaining a volunteer program. |
Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders. |
Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the facility. |
Supervise ongoing community service projects and develop appropriate problem-solving actions. |
Plan and implement special events that serve to advance staff, resident, and community relations. |
Coordinate special functions with all departments. |
Assist with promotions, publications, newsletters, etc., as necessary. |
Develop and maintain a current file of media contacts. |
Contact the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the facility that will be beneficial to the facility and community alike. |
Keep the Administrator informed of newspaper, radio, and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest that may have an impact on our facility or the regulations that govern our facility. |
During emergencies, establish a public relations area to assure that the release of information is accurate and within the scope of our established policies governing the release of information during emergency conditions. |
Work with design and printing companies in the development of facility brochures, newsletters, publications, etc. |
Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator concerning our facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities. |
Agree not to disclose assigned user ID code and password for accessing resident/facility information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator. |
Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator. |
Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information system. |
Maintain a thorough knowledge of our facility’s admission requirements, services, and programs. |
Committee Functions |
Serve on various committees of the facility as directed by the Administrator. |
Personnel Functions |
Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Administrator. |
Ensure that departmental computer workstations left unattended are properly logged off or the password protected automatic screensaver activates within established facility policy guidelines. |
Staff Development |
Assist department directors in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in-service training classes, on-the-job training and orientation programs concerning the facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities. |
Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes in the long-term care field, as well as to maintain a professional status. |
Attend and participate in facility mandatory in-service training programs as scheduled (e.g., OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, etc.). |
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. |
Safety and Sanitation |
Follow established safety regulations, to include fire protection/prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc. |
Budget and Planning Functions |
Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the facility. |
Assure that adequate financial records and expense reports are submitted to the Administrator as required. |
Keep abreast of economic conditions/situations and adjust as necessary to assure the continued ability to provide quality care. |
Report suspected or known incidence of fraud relative to false billings, cost reports, kickbacks, etc. |
Resident Rights |
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. |
Knock before entering a resident’s room. |
Assure that the resident’s rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times. |
Review resident complaints and grievances and make written reports of action taken. Discuss with resident and family as appropriate. |
Assist in establishing and implementing a Resident/Group Council. |
Interpret resident rights to the resident, family, and staff personnel as necessary or appropriate. |
Physical Capabilities |
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday. |
Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met. |
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination. |
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. |
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. |
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. |
Environmental Conditions |
Primarily inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure, and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens. |
This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with an intimate, 24-hour skilled care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population. |
Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to: emergency health or safety response, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in a nursing home, death and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff. |
